You are what you are !!!

A Businessman to a Journalist : My father forced me into the family business, though I was not interested

Journalist told: Ok.... so what, you are rich now

Businessman replied : If I had pursued my goals...I would have been richer :)

This might be a bit serious topic, but I needed this to convey my feelings about impact of our parents guidance in our life.

I believe that the life what we lead today is because of our parents. Parents have a solemn duty to guide and minister, to point out to kids that they cannot always do what they like, but should try to like what they do, to show that hobbies and fancies do not make a career.

Parents of this generation should have an open communication. Parents, out of their wisdom have to honestly advice the youth, the opportunities and challenges that are in-store in the world. Rather than wrap their children in a cocoon of hopes, and they should help their children in unleashing their potential.

Parents should neither be steal their dreams nor be silent spectators, but instead cultivate innate inclinations and guide them with their wisdom.

Further, we have seen many parents who could not become doctors, push their kids into medicine. Moreover parents who have seen other families' children express desires to become artists, rock stars, or athletes naturally become protective and reactionary when it comes to their children and start applying pressure to go into a "safe" occupation. In turn, this stems from our parents' experiences, where there were only two sure jobs with financial security: medicine and engineering.

This is a general notion that all the people will naturally have "Given that illness is untied to the health of the economy, doctors will never have to face unemployment". Finally, doctors will always be admired in society. What other line of work can match that level of comfort, security, and respect?

Just as well, there are better options than medicine for talented young people with other inclinations and capabilities. Believe it or not, there are other stable, productive, and satisfying professions. Youth should be able to choose, in conjunction with their parents, the profession that best matches their talents and abilities. With the right combination of support and dedication, our youth can be trailblazers in any field they choose to pursue.

What I would like to convey is please don't pressurize your kids into any field of your choice, be it Medicine or Engineering, they may turn up in being nothing if they are not interested in it. So, carefully understand what they are inclined into and their talents are in. They will naturally shine up in their interested career with love and passion towards it.

Few examples about this topic in my next post ........

sona varthaikal seri. while considering india there are certain limits for each gender, community etc..

So if ur girl wants to become a pop star parents dont encourage

Bcos they dont want to see thier girl dancing in low hips and tube tops. indian girls can they dance like brittney or beyonce. but for pop star performance u cant wear a saree and dance.

parents in india do force childrens in a narrow path eg. when he/she is doing 10th they will start his special classes for engineering/medicine.

i dont blame all. But for some cases like pop or sports star especially for women, even in my time i wont encourage my daughter
they want their childrens life to be peaceful and settled.

some fields dont offer that. u have to sacrifice a lot to shine in some fields.

Anyway, time and luck also plays a vital role in deicing one's destiny

Neenga solradhum saridhan, I agree to what you say.

There are many other professions too... like the girls can also pick up classical dance or carnatic singing or many other instrumental musicians.

I am sure none of the parents would want their daughters to go into pop, neither would the girls bought up in a nice family would want to ...
